MEDIA STATEMENT - Mass shooting event at Bellaria Residences

The Canadian Condominium Institute’s (CCI) Toronto Chapter Board of Directors would like to express our condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of the victims, and everyone impacted by the events at the Bellaria Residences in Vaughan, Ontario.

“Condominiums represent one of the most popular housing choices for people in the GTA and our province. Conflicts of this nature between residents, boards, and management are rare, but are resolved through internal discussion, mediators, and the courts. An escalation of this nature is unheard of and deeply distressing.” Says Lyndsey McNally, Board President of CCI-Toronto.

As an association, CCI-Toronto is dedicated to the education of Condo Directors and proactively supports our membership and community through education, networking opportunities, and advocacy. We are prepared to help the media better understand the Condominium industry as best we can without speaking to any specifics related to the ongoing investigation.

About the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI)
CCI is the largest national condo association dealing exclusively with condominium issues affecting all of the participants in the condominium community. The chapters throughout the country provide practical comparisons to the different provincial condo acts and allow us to work with various levels of governments for better reforms as gained from practical experience. CCI assists the association membership in establishing and operating successful condominium corporations through education, resources, seminars, and referrals to expert assistance.

CCI has seventeen chapters nationally and eight chapters in Ontario, representing more than 280,000 units Ontario-wide. The Toronto and Area Chapter currently represents 852 condominiums across the Greater Toronto Area. CCI does not represent any one profession or interest group. Rather, it represents all facets of the condominium community, encouraging all interest groups to work together towards one goal.
